This is your friendly reminder that there has been no bug activity for over a year. Is this still an issue in current (1.7.37 or newer) wine? If so, please attach the terminal output in 1.7.37 (see http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#get_log).
Tested this on current git (wine-1.7.37-260-g4c1791f) GOG version of the game
When I load the game, the please stand by screen appears and then dissapears. Nothing happens after, I have to kill the game manually. I don't remember having a problem like that when I tested the game for this bug report a couple of years ago. Can somebody else test this and tell me if they get similar results to me? Thanks.
I have installed the GOG version of Fallout 1 on wine-1.7.45 and what you described occured. I was able to fix it by creating a DLL override for ddraw as described in a Fallout 2 test result (https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=27466).
