Is this still present in current (1.1.28 or newer) wine?
Yes. Tested with 1.1.28. The game froze after about 30seconds of online play:
err:ntdll:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection section 0x7e239440 "x11drv_main.c: X11DRV_CritSection" wait timed out in thread 001a, blocked by 0009, retrying (60 sec)
