--- Comment #100 from aguertin+wine@aguertin.net --- (In reply to harry from comment #98)
Is ther any chance that will ever be supported in wine/wine-staging without custom patches? Until now, this bug report is still UNCONFIRMED.
My impression is that since this bug is so heavily tied in to NTDLL, there's little chance of someone working on it while the work on creation of a Unix library for NTDLL is ongoing. Any work done here would have to get done and redone multiple times as the entire NTDLL codebase changes underneath it.
Lots of NTDLL-related wine-staging patches are disabled for this reason too. Here's a good recent example: https://github.com/wine-staging/wine-staging/commit/70d81789275c4c5b8fed0199...
"Fixing this would require a nontrivial amount of effort, which will be obviated as soon as Alexandre finishes splitting ntdll upstream."
I haven't seen any roadmap for the ntdll unix library work, but from my outsider's perspective I'd guess it's about 1/3 done. It started in mid-May, so maybe check back in October?
In the meantime, wine-5.6 with patches from here remains the easiest way to play, although with effort you can update to a patched version of wine-5.9.
