Sound is fine in 1.4-rc4 (in w95 mode) with ALSA. Wine has some reports about
crackling sound, e.g. bug #28856, but they are all related to PulseAudio.

What rose my interest is that this app contains a wail32.dll of dubious fame
for being associated with SuspendThread in bug #3930, comment #7.
My recent patch removed SuspendThread from winmm (it was used in
midiStreamOpen), so perhaps it is time to retest bug #3930 now.
