In addition, flash player in firefox will not play for more than 5 seconds while Steam is running.
Also, the audio problem isn't limited to linux apps for me as the opener said; Steam games are affected as well.
I'm on Ubuntu Hardy 64-bit with wine-0.9.59 from the ubuntu repos.
I see some of the same command-line output as others: err:dscapture:widDsCreate DirectSoundCapture flag not set This sound card's driver does not support direct access The (slower) DirectSound HEL mode will be used instead.
Some posters on the Ubuntu forums seem to think this is OSS-related, but I get identical results on both ALSA and OSS, and even with aoss wrapping OSS.
