From what I've been told this is needed to get more sophisticated copy protection schemes working.
Some programs always assume that core dlls exist in all processes at the same base addresses. And use this assumption for some nasty stuff.
This is one of the cases where we'll likely have to take the good with the bad. A lot of viruses/etc., use this behavior, but some anti-hack, etc. does as well.
