Can you make sure that this patch causes the breakage? Can you set the git tree right before that patch and try with and without the patch? If the patch indeed causes the problem, can you attach a +d3d log with and without the patch, or even better, if you are familiar with oprofile, a profiling of the game with and without the patch?
