I've encountered the same issues as stated before.
Not sure what made it work, but when I was trying out changing settings, and
after a clean install of Linux Lite 1.0.6, the main window is hiding correctly,
but chat window is still showing borders. Also if I Turn off "Enable display
compositing" in Window Manager Tweaks the borders show much wider.
Running Linux Lite 1.0.6 XFCE.
