Beer has been preferred in most situations related to development, more developers drink beer before testing bugs, during patch development and after patch rejection (source unknown). Sometimes patches are commited and even then more developers still drink beer. Notable exceptions were stated in comment 4 and comment 5 and comment 8.
Drinking increases integration but reduces performance and can be clearly related to several accidents that can lead to well known regressions (source unknown). It is pretty clear that beer was the cause that led to comment 5. For example comment 9 talks about reverse engineering, which is clearly forbidden, the developer is well aware of that and could only have posted that under ofbuscation of beer.
A whole new discussion could arise in order to understand if the problem is Wine or wine. But that should take another 6 years.
