Mach64/r128 are not relevant. From the version numbers I conclude that you use
MesaGL and open-source drivers for your GPU. It is well known that the current
state of open source GPU drivers is far from perfect so your best bet would be
to install Catalyst/fglrx binary drivers blob from AMD and retest the game with
it.

Huh, and what about sound, have you got any problems with it?

It should be enough to only replace d3dx9_26 - this is one the game actually
use.
