--- Comment #1 from ajduck@outlook.com --- I'm also experiencing the deactivation issue on elementary OS 6.1 using Wine 7.0-rc2. Glad to know it wasn't just my strange setup.
FL 20.9's new authorization system seems to generate a machine/validation ID determined by certain factors, but whatever it is doing or looking at to generate the machine ID seems (with Wine) to change for unknown reasons and FL reverts back to trial mode. It's possible (at least on my system) the activation can persist across reboots.
I have observed it changing from one machine ID at one point to changing back to a previously generated (already seen) machine ID at a later point (meaning I could use a previous .reg file response for that ID to reactivate FL).
This is with FL Studio 20.9 build 2748. I've posted on the developer's technical support forum asking if they could possibly give any more information or insight as regards to this issue. There's not been a response from them yet, but I think they might be taking a break right now.
For testing purposes: it's not necessary to have a license in order to view the machine/validation ID, it can be done in trial mode with the publicly available FL Studio installer. To view the validation ID, go to Help -> Unlock FL Studio, click "More..." under "Unlock with file", and then click "Save validation file". The text inside the validation file is the machine/validation ID.
