I'm now observing a rather different behaviour: TF2 seems to run a *lot*
better, but after a while I start to get some odd graphical glitches -- big
triangles radiating from the centre of the screen, obscuring most of the
screen, and some trashed fonts.  Was able to exit TF2, but it then crashed with
the attached (somewhat unhelpful) log.
