[Bug 16826] Irritating screen flicker during app load

Hi again,

I tried glxgears, and it doesn't cause any strange symptoms.  The Win32 apps
that I run are not graphics programs or games that run full screen.  Even
Notepad and winecfg cause the flashing effect when they load.  To be more
precise, I was using Wine 1.1.9 on Ubuntu 8.04 and this bug did not exist.  I
have since upgraded both my OS and Wine to the most current versions.
