We need to test this on windows to be sure.
As for today, with wine-1.2 release, this bug don't happen with Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2 Episode 1, Half-Life 2 Episode 2 and Portal. Meanwhile it happens with Half-Life: Source (based on Source engine) and with all flavors of Half-Life 1 (Retail, Opposing Force, Blue Shift, Decay - i.e. all versions based on old GldSource engine) when the NumLock is on.
Tested it today to be sure.
Windows Vista SP2: installed HL1 on Steam, turned numlock on, launched game, started new level - it did not pause, works fine.
