What was the last version that worked for you then?
1.0, but that was with older ALSA drivers and kernel.
I checked now with wine 1.1.4, alsa-lib 1.0.17a and kernel 2.6.26.5, ALSA still generates static (works fine aside from wine), OSS works fine.
