Roy, please post in Bugzilla, don't reply to the wine-bugs email.  Email read:

"I must apologize for not getting back to you.  I installed the version
for Ubuntu 7.10 which failed.  On reading more on the Wine site I found
a notice that the 7.10 version was hopelessly out of date and after
installing the latest version the problem was resolved.
