How is this minor? This bug basically makes the game unplayable.
It's definitely not performance, I bet there's a function that is not implemented that causes an unnecessary delay.
Based on your description, the game plays fine once loaded. It's annoying, but doesn't completely break the game. Or did I misunderstand the problem?
By "load" I don't mean "start", I mean "load"; each time a saved game is loaded, a new level is loaded, etc.
There are parts of the game where many levels are loaded in a short period of time.
