12501 Multiple application installers need mspatcha.dll ApplyPatchToFileW implementation (Microsoft Delta Compression API)
ApplyPatchToFileW is mentioned frequently in the error logs and the person who got 10.x to install in Ubuntu used mspatcha.dll
I don't have access to a copy of mspatcha.dll to check this, but this sounds like a potential solution. If that fixes the problem, Adobe Reader 11.0.2 should be added to that bug so it doesn't get reported again.
