Summary: Last Chaos gets slower and slower after more than 1hr of gameplay Product: Wine Version: 1.1.14 Platform: All OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: enhancement Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: steffiundthomas@gmx.de
After launching "Last Chaos" and playing for more than 1hr, the framerate sometimes drops extremely low. For more Information on this issue please consider alex' comment "game goes slower and slower" posted on July 5th 2008 and especially Thomas' reply to this under the following link:
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?bShowAll=true&bIsQueue=false&a...
As this is the only remaining issue on this game with current wine (1.1.14) - compared to running under windows native - this application would imho receive Platinum-Status.

--- Comment #1 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2009-08-13 13:11:21 --- Is this still an issue in current (1.1.27 or newer) wine?

--- Comment #2 from Rico kgbricola@web.de 2009-08-15 12:29:05 --- Created an attachment (id=23081) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=23081) +fps log
Attached is a +fps log to show the progress, when the game gets slower. I ran to a location where nearly no other players where around and was waiting there. There I let the game run about half an hour. Over this time the fps go down (from ~70fps to ~25fps).
wine 1.1.27, geforce 8800 gts, 190.18, fedora 11, 2.6.29.6-217.2.3.fc11.x86_64
At the same time I had a look at top. The RES memory increased slowly from ~400MB to ~500MB

--- Comment #3 from Rico kgbricola@web.de 2009-08-21 05:57:44 --- Created an attachment (id=23198) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=23198) oprofile logs, fps log and a picture to show the decreasing fps
Attached is a test run from LC (German version). It contains 4 oprofile logs, which where made, when the frame rate was ~ 60, 40, 30 and 20 fps. It contains a picture where the frame drop is visible and it contains the corresponding fps.log to generate the picture.
It looks the longer the game runs the more time is spend in HEAP_FindFreeBlock in ntdll.dll.so.
@Thomas: Please add your system specs like graphic card, graphic driver, kernel version, RAM size. Which LC version do you use (English, German, ...)?

--- Comment #4 from jyves jyves.barrau@laposte.net 2009-08-23 15:31:16 --- Hi, As for me I have this problem on Ubuntu 9.04 2.6.28-15-generic Nvidia gtx260 Ram 2Gb proc Q9550 wine-1.1.26
if I can help making some debug (try something or produce debug traces) let me know how I can help.
I think this bug is more serious than exposed; I have to restart the game every 30-45 min with makes it unplayable. Since it's an MMORPG I can't group for at least 1 hour:/.
Thanks in advance for advices or questions!

So, it's impossible for me to say if the issue is still current.

--- Comment #9 from Rico kgbricola@web.de 2011-10-02 00:52:11 CDT --- Well I couldn't start the game anymore (LastChaos German version).
The publisher patched it a while ago, added XTrap and broke it wine.
So this one is blocked. I'm not sure by which bug candidates are 18770, 19880 and 24880 . But since the game uses XTrap it's probably but 11344.

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17299 Bug 17299 depends on bug 11344, which changed state.
