--- Comment #1 from winetest@luukku.com --- Does winetricks -q directmusic dsound fix the issue?

--- Comment #2 from legluondunet@free.fr legluondunet@free.fr --- Tested today with Wine 2.20, videos play still swithout audio The videos format codec is smush: https://wiki.multimedia.cx/index.php/Smush There is a smush.dll in the aim game folder. Other interesting thing: if you erase the A3DAPI.DLL located in the aim game folder, Wine play the cinematics with audio! But without the A3DAPI.dll the game can not detect any audio card and the audio in the game is off.

--- Comment #6 from spatula@edison-albright.com --- Can confirm the same issue using wine 3.9, openSuSE tumbleweed. Killing A3DAPI.dll has the same effect as described. Anyone new developments?

--- Comment #9 from legluondunet@free.fr legluondunet@free.fr --- Almost three years after opened this bug, I finally found a workaround, I can now hear sound from cinematics and sounds ingame is still active. Try this: download this dll: https://github.com/legluondunet/MyLittleLutrisScripts/raw/master/Star%20Wars... put sound.dll file in the main game folder, override dsound to "native, builtin", launch the game, so? I found this workaround on tweaking "Beyond Good and Devil", this game needs sound.dll to avoid audio desync.

What's the source of this dll file?
The windows 8 iso. You are just basically setting dsound to native. Winetricks not helping is odd, but maybe it has something to do with the fact it just installs an XP-presuming dll.
If tinkering with A3DAPI has any effect, my guess is this has something to do with directsound 3d/hardware buffers. It may have been "improved" as of lately, if that's the case duplicate of bug 40898.

Bug still occurs with wine-7.10. Workaround (removind ad3dapi.ddl) still works too.
