Summary: World of Warcraft on recent Radeon has scrambled output Product: Wine Version: 1.1.2 Platform: Other OS/Version: other Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: opengl AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: mitch074@gmail.com
Created an attachment (id=15355) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=15355) image of what you can see on screen
I get scrambled output on screen as soon as World of Warcraft (2.4.3) starts; only the output is scrambled, it seems the card renders the image correctly in X (a screen capture and a snapshot taken with a camera at thesame moment have radically different appearance).
Other visible defects are already covered and worked around in other bug reports, but this is actually a first.
Results are identical whether I use: Catalyst 8.6 or 8.7 Wine 0.9.58, 1.0.0 or 1.1.2 d3d or opengl rendering
In the case of Catalyst 8.6, scrambling stays even after WoW and Wine stop; the system will eventually crash. 8.7 actually recovers a little while after application shutdown.
My system is Mandriva 2008.1 x86-64 Free, running on Athlon X2 with 2 Gb of DDR RAM and a Sapphire RadeonHD 4850. Connection to screen is by DVI, I tried both ports.
Could this actually be an Xorg bug? What can I do to test?

--- Comment #4 from Mitch 74 mitch074@gmail.com 2008-08-09 03:14:18 --- (resetting to 'invalid' - answer incomplete, although I agree with general assessment: driver bug, not a Wine bug)
Vitaliy, your link points to "5.2. Can I use Wine on an older Mac without an Intel chip?"
I'm not running PPC, so either you misread the bug report (unlikely) or the link you proposed is not the right one. I'd like the 'real' link, as I couldn't find anything documenting this bug - I'd enjoy a workaround, if by chance it's mentioned...
Thanks!
Mitch
