------- Additional Comments From willie@froq.net 2005-03-10 11:18 ------- James,
I really agree, Wine is improving extremely fast, and I'm really grateful. Still, while it's really great that more and more apps work from release to release, that won't exactly help the people who are affected by this huge regression. There are guys working with Wine, not testing random applications. I, for one, only need Wine to support two applications: One of those applications used to work, but is affected by this regression - the other one never really worked (bug #1973, might be a small bug, can't tell - the bug only affects one or two apps AFAIK, so I understand it won't ever be a priority task to fix it).
So, for me and quite a few other guys, Wine became unusable despite all the improvements of the recent months. The old WM code had many problems, but it _worked_ for us, and that's somewhat frustrating... Believe me, if I understood Wine's x11drv, I'd try to fix the problems myself. But I only know a little C++, so I'm pretty lost digging through the Wine sources.
Anyway, keep up the great work! I read wine-devel almost every day, hoping at least one of my apps will start to work (again) in the future...!
