--- Comment #8 from Dan Kegel dank@kegel.com 2012-08-02 09:56:16 CDT --- Please try this (after backing up any important files in ~/.wine):
cd $HOME rm -rf .wine mkdir tmp cd tmp wget http://www.vbtutor.net/StarWar/starwar5.CAB cabextract starwar5.CAB wine starwar5.exe
This should work fine.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=31384
--- Comment #9 from Dan Kegel dank@kegel.com 2012-08-02 09:57:50 CDT --- I should have mentioned: runnning starwar5.exe successfully will at least show that your system can run a trivial vb6 app.
Is your vb6 app available for download?

--- Comment #13 from Dan Kegel dank@kegel.com 2012-08-02 11:57:07 CDT --- You ran wine starwar5. You should have run wine starwar5.exe
Also, you should never run Wine as root, see http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ/#run_as_root
Please reply by private email; this is getting a bit too chatty for bugzilla.

--- Comment #19 from Anastasius Focht focht@gmx.net --- Hello folks,
no further response from OP here.
Since this was considered a "critical issue" and OP refused to provide detailed technical info, I guess two years after it's either solved or moot anyway.
If your app/work is that "mission critical" you should consider using a different software solution or hire competent guy(s) to get things sorted out.
Bugzilla is largely a voluntary effort with people sparing their _free_ time to help. You can of course request "immediate support" but you should never confuse that with commercial (paying) end-user support.
