Summary: Avernum crashes once in a while Product: Wine Version: unspecified Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: t.r.skele@hotmail.com
I installed Avernum (game) on Wine. It ran perfectly after the installation. The next day I opened my computer and started playing Avernum from a saved game. It took only a few minutes till it crashed. The Avernum-window was frozen, but I still could move my mouse and access my Linux toolbars. I couldn't close the window though so I moved it to another workspace and started Avernum again. After a few minutes of gameplay it froze again. I repeated the process a few times and every time it froze because I was doing some simple command like 'look' or 'talk'. I logged out of my Linux account to close the hoard of Avernum-windows on my other workspace and tried to start Avernum without any programs in the background but the same problem kept reappearing.

Terminal output? Wine version?
The version should be 1.2, but I don't know about the terminal output. I haven't studied wine very much. But if you can tell me how I can get it then ofcourse I'll tell.

And some more:
^Cerr:ntdll:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection section 0x1209248 "rtl.c: RTL_RWLOCK.rtlCS" wait timed out in thread 001b, blocked by 0000, retrying (60 sec) wine: Critical section 01209248 wait failed at address 0x7bc3569d (thread 001b), starting debugger...
and a pop-up window saying:
Unhandled exception: c000013a At address: 7bc35baa
And a while after that another pop-up window saying that "The program avernum.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to be closed..."

Found a solution for the problem. I just set off the game sounds and it stopped crashing.
That's just a workaround, which doesn't merit resolving the bug.

And that's why I put in the worksforme status, but yeah it doesn't solve the bug.

--- Comment #8 from butraxz@gmail.com 2013-08-05 12:38:01 CDT --- This ticket has not been updated for over 900 days. Development recommends to check the status on your bug every release or two and let to be known if the bug is still present. If not, mark it fixed.
Is this still an issue with 1.7.0 or higher ?
