First, the program actually starts. Then you need to select the input file in the Source window. This opens the AviSynth installation window. After installing Avisynth, all Windows are closed and nothing happens.

Hello!

I have been working for a long time with this same version of StaxRip on Windows 10, where it works perfectly. The program surpasses many times such analogues as HandBrake, Hybrid, etc.

There is no installation version for this program, it was originally intended as Portable.

I also can't understand why the Mediainfo error appears, all the files are in their places. I have been trying to adapt it to Linux for several weeks, but nothing helps.

I tried this now:

Extract the archive StaxRip-x64-2.0.6.0-stable.7z in (e.g.) ~/.wine/drive_c, (I also copied after that a video .avi into there)

Then invoke like:

/opt/wine-staging/bin/wine start "c:\StaxRip.exe"

(If you extract in different dir adjust the windowspath).

Now the error is gone for me and it gets a bit further: It seems to start processing the avi; unfortunatley another errorwindow pops up, but i see some stuff is extracted from the avi like mp3. I don`t know enough about this video stuff to see if it worked correctly. Could you try and report back please?

The errowindow I got is probably related to NtCreatePowerRequest returning STATUS_NOT_IMPLEMETED, I`ll check that later if you could first confirm if the above recipe works for you.

Seriously: Lutris is not supported here, so please ask on the forum/channel there.

It works when started like in comment #18 or like for example

wine start /unix "$HOME/StaxRip.exe" (when the exe is e.g in my home directory)

If you give them that information i guess Lutris folks know how to change script; I don`t know it...

For now I only see one bug and that is the bug about NtCreatePowerRequest stub (errowindows, though it seems (luckily) not fatal.

As I said, I already had native dotnet40/48 installed.

Not possible due to lack of support for certain Visual support from .NetFramework. Already tried to bring it over it's just can't be done with the existing code and allot of changes would have to happen. It also can't run in Wine.

Also tried to Build it through Mono, That also didn't work hit a roadblock since mono doesn't contain everything VisualStudio has.

Then of course there the biggest issue, Linux does not have Avisynth Which the core of StaxRip is built off of. Only VapourSynth would have Support but not sure how much. Then there the issues of GPU Encoders.

Linux lacks certain dll files which are only found on Windows OS. Due to there architecture they will not run on other platforms.

I`m pretty sure this guy knows a lot more about this than I do, but on the other hand I`d say, don`t give up too soon.

I tried converting some avi`s and at least parts of the program seems functional; despite the various errorwindows that pop up it looks like it processed some avi`s here on my computer, extracted mp3`s from it etc.

Unfortunately I don`t know much about this program and video-encoding to see if things are done correctly; I`ll open bugreport anyway for the issue from comment #18; Would be nice if you still could give some input about whether which parts of the program _do_ work.

All your recent comments indicate you mistake Bugzilla for a help forum. Please take your issues with winetricks recipes to the user forums (https://forum.winehq.org/).

Also the bug report seems to clearly target Wine-Mono here because bug summary mentions "installing native dotnet is a workaround" and component field is set to 'mscoree'. Why are you still posting console output / backtraces with native .NET Framework installed? This is not helpful at all. There already exist bug reports targeting the issues when running the app with native .NET Framework.

If you continue like this the bug will likely be ignored by people who could actually help here. Your best bet might be Louis who has more patience with you.

Use a clean (new) WINEPREFIX with Wine-Mono and _nothing_ else installed for testing. No winetricks verbs.

The Wine-Mono part is currently blocked by bug 45868 ("Multiple .NET 4.x applications crash due to shell32.SHGetStockIconInfo lacking support for SHGSI_ICON flag (Windower 5 beta/FF XI tool, Affinity Designer 1.x)")
