--- Comment #5 from Louis Lenders xerox_xerox2000@yahoo.co.uk 2008-05-18 03:23:05 --- This starts just fine for me when i follow the howto from appdb:
wget http://www.uv.tietgen.dk/Staff/Mlha/Download/WIN/microsoft/scripten.exe && wine scripten.exe
wget http://kegel.com/wine/winetricks && sh winetricks vbrun6
Start the installer , and disable the install of "MicroSoft Script Engine 5.6" (otherwise the installer fails to download that for me)

--- Comment #6 from panagiotis@gmail.com 2008-05-23 14:58:36 --- I tried again, with Wine 1.0rc2 and with Louis Lenders suggestions, but unfortunately, it still crashed on startup.

To create a fresh setup, I moved my old .wine dir out of the way, and started wine to create a new one. Then I installed the following two things as suggested:
wget http://www.uv.tietgen.dk/Staff/Mlha/Download/WIN/microsoft/scripten.exe wine scripten.exe wget http://kegel.com/wine/winetricks sh winetricks vb6run

--- Comment #8 from Louis Lenders xerox_xerox2000@yahoo.co.uk 2008-05-23 15:17:23 --- hmm, that's weird then. Just tried again, same procedure, and the main window comes up just fine here.... So i'm a bit puzzled it still crashes for you

--- Comment #9 from Rob Shearman robertshearman@gmail.com 2008-06-01 11:31:28 --- Your first attachment shows heap corruption when using native ole32 - if you want that fixed I suggest you raise a support request with Microsoft. Your second attachment shows issues with your the registry not being up to date.
With current versions of Wine the registry should be updated automatically, so I suggest you upgrade to a recent version.

I've added a new crash log when using Wine 1.1.8. This is with a fresh .wine directory, only installing vb6run and scriptgen.exe as was advised earlier to me.
