Bug ID: 53398 Summary: Crackling Audio in 868-HACK (Game) Product: Wine Version: unspecified Hardware: arm OS: Android Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: tidegear@gmail.com
I'm using Exagear on Android to play 868-HACK... https://store.steampowered.com/app/274700/868HACK/ ...and it doesn't seem to matter what options or Wine version I use. No matter what, I get crackling audio. It's very annoying. I even tried pulse audio, and it didn't help. (Winealsa.drv is the default audio with the same problem.) The gameplay itself seems to run smoothly.
The game also runs fine on my Windows 10 PC.
It's not just an Exagear/Android issue either. I found these reports here... https://www.protondb.com/app/274700

--- Comment #1 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com --- For those of us unfamiliar with Exagear, it's not clear to how wine is involved here..is wine running under Exagear? Or is Exagear bundling/shipping wine?

Sorry, I'm kind of a noob with Wine, but I'll attempt to explain. My basic understanding is that Exagear was a commercial project that got Wine to run on Android devices (via emulation, I think?) with the intent of playing PC games. It was eventually discontinued, but these days there are many free hacks of it floating around that update it with things like the latest version of Wine and other stuff that increases compatibility and performance.

--- Comment #3 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com --- Well, I'm inclined to close this as invalid, since we don't know what Exagear is and can't support it.
Proton having the same issue definitely makes it seem like it could be a wine bug, but those reports are also old (and proton also carries a lot of patches/isn't supported here).
This really needs someone to test it under _wine_, ideally 7.19.
