Bug ID: 40218 Summary: Rise of Nations Gold - Problem with colors starting with wine 1.9.4 Product: Wine Version: 1.9.4 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: pe.we.psi@gmail.com Distribution: ---
Although the game runs well with wine and some native dlls (mfc42, msxml4, quartz), after uprading to wine 1.9.4 all colors in the hole gameplay are extremely pale and whitish. With wine 1.9.3 this problem was definitively not present. After uninstalling wine 1.9.4 and installing stable wine 1.8.1 from the distribution the problem is also not present, so it must be introduced with wine 1.9.4

--- Comment #1 from Sebastian Lackner sebastian@fds-team.de --- This sounds like a regression. If possible, please run a regression test to find out which commit introduced the issue. Take a look here for more details: https://wiki.winehq.org/RegressionTesting .
Please also attach terminal output (as attachment) to this bug report, it probably shows a hint why something is going wrong. Is there a demo available to reproduce this issue?

--- Comment #2 from pe.we.psi@gmail.com --- Created attachment 53844 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=53844 Terminal-Output for wine 1.8 and 1.94
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=40218
--- Comment #3 from pe.we.psi@gmail.com --- The problem is also present for the demo of 'Rise of Nations' not only for the full Version game mentioned above. The demo is available (for example) at: http://www.fileplanet.com/123437/120000/fileinfo/Rise-of-Nations-Demo
Included you will find the terminal output when starting and stopping this demo with wine 1.8 (without error - this was also true for wine 1.93) and for wine 1.94 (with error).
In both cases a prefix with native dlls (quartz, mfc42, msxml4) was used. For getting sound working some more dlls would have to be used, but this is not important for the error reported here.
To repeat myself, in both cases the game does not show any error, but because of the extremly pale and whitish colors with starting with wine 1.94 it is no fun at all.
I am sorry, but to do a regression test is beyond my possibilities, actually.
