Hi, wine 1.4 is very old and unsupported. Please update to the latest
development version of wine (currently 1.7.21) and try again.

I tried this game with wine 1.7.22

It starts but there seems to be something missing, some screens I assume (enter
skips) console spams:

Not a JPEG file: starts with 0x89 0x50
Empty input file
libpng error: Read Error

and similar lines.

But I don't have the issue you mentioned. I also don't get crash.

AFAICS this is fixed, I have a crash in 1.4 and no longer in 1.7.53, also there
is no corruption but the console messages remain.
