using 'chattr -R +S <steam directory>' as suggested in post #33 by James, makes
it impossible for me to start steam. I get everytime I want to start the
registry error.
The which seemed makes it work (at least for me), was to use it that way:

cd /home/<_your_user_name_>/.wine/drive_c/<_your_steam_install_path>/Steam
WINEDEBUG=-all wine steam.exe

using this, I never get any registry in use errors anymore.
