Summary: Dungeon Keeper 2 game (animation) speed is too fast Product: Wine Version: 1.1.23 Platform: PC-x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: eluminex@gmail.com
Installed version: Dungeon Keeper 2 v1.7
The game speed is too fast for some elements. Scrolling for example is almost impossible since it is so fast - going from one end of a map to the other in a second. The animation speed of torches on the walls are also way too fast as well as smoke animations.
This only happens with hardware acceleration on and therefore suggests this is a problem related to d3d.
Wine 1.1.23, nVidia 180, Kubuntu 9.04 x64

--- Comment #3 from Oskar Gargas oskar.gargas@gmail.com 2009-08-02 16:03:33 --- Managed to partialy fix. This bug is very bad when using no cd fixed from gamecopyworld. When I've used no cd from megagames it slowed down. Not to the normal values, but with minimal changes in ingame options it is invisible bug.
I think this is a problem in crack, not in wine.

I cannot reproduce this being a problem related to the crack used. I tried both no-cds you mentioned without noticing -any- difference at all in game-play (including the speed bugs etc).
I did notice, however, that the torches etc looks normal most of the time with current git (1.1.44). I'm not entirely sure the issue is fixed completely (I will need to play the game more to be sure, but I can only do that when a few other bugs has been fixed).

Can you try again with this unofficial fan-made patch for DK2? (make sure that you have DK2 1.7 installed first)

--- Comment #6 from draxx draxx31@yahoo.fr 2011-06-28 12:32:25 CDT --- For me the game speed was too speed too.
To solve this problem with a mulicore cpu, use the following command line with playonlinux and dk2 profil created : taskset -c 1 /usr/share/playonlinux/playonlinux --run "dk2"

--- Comment #7 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2013-11-13 16:47:57 CST --- This is your friendly reminder that there has been no bug activity for 2 years. Is this still an issue in current (1.7.6 or newer) wine? If so, please attach the terminal output in 1.7.6 (see http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#get_log).

I played the GOG version of the game recently with wine 1.7.4 and Arch linux x64, and the speed of the game was fine.
