Summary: Diablo 2 in fullscreen mode, the bottom 6th of the screen is cut off (widescreen display) Product: Wine Version: 1.0-rc3 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: mmmmiinndd@gmail.com
When running Diablo 2 in fullscreen mode on a widescreen display (16:10), the picture is stretched to the maximum width horizontally, and is scaled proportionally vertically. The means that the bottom 1/6th of the picture is not visible (off screen).
I am unsure what logs would be helpful; please advise me what additional information to provide.

--- Comment #2 from Lei Zhang thestig@google.com 2008-06-05 00:45:02 --- What resolution are you playing the game at? 640x480?
Do you get the same problem if you run xrandr -s 640x480?

--- Comment #3 from mmind mmmmiinndd@gmail.com 2008-06-09 15:16:57 --- I have tried playing at 800x600 and 640x480. At 640x480, the problem does not exist (the picture is displayed properly, stretched to fill the wide screen). The intro movies play properly. The problem only exists in the menu and ingame at 800x600. I have tried using xrandr -s 640x480 and xrandr -s 800x600. Neither of these fixes the issue.

--- Comment #6 from knan-wine@anduin.net 2008-09-18 18:54:32 --- I believe this is just a rather common nvidia/xorg bug that only shows up with 800x600/960x600 modes.
first google hit on "800x600 cut off nvidia": http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=116208
Option "ModeValidation" "NoXServerModes"
... fixed it for me. (newer x.org version, same nvidia driver version)

Can this still be a problem in wine? IMHO not.

--- Comment #10 from Jon Rosen holy.smoking.floorboards.batman@gmail.com 2009-06-01 22:01:16 --- This is not a problem with wine but a problem with SDL. I'm not exactly sure what the cause is, but its based around SDL trying to change resolutions to 800x600 at a certain vertical refresh rate. I think it needs to be 60hz, but SDL will default to whatever is available first. You just need to force it to display at 60 and the problem should be fixed.

--- Comment #13 from Jon Rosen holy.smoking.floorboards.batman@gmail.com 2010-01-04 16:21:07 --- I have not had problems with this in a while, now; even with a recent re-install. Although not positive, I think this is related to an addition to my xorg.conf:
Secion "Device" [...] Option "ModeValidation" "DoubleScanPriority" [...] EndSection
Either way, the issue is now solved for me as well.

In current git (1.2), I do not experience this issue. Should be marked as FIXED I believe.
