there was also a start.log file in the app directory, but was empty.

This looks like your windows partition which is not supported. You should be installing the game using Wine to your linux ext3fs partition.
To the issue at hand, the crash is in your video drivers not Wine. Resolving invalid. Report the issue to your distro.

if I could change the VGA with a brand that supply well working opensource driver I will do. The problem is that this is an old notebook with the Radeon 9700 mobile integrated on the motherboard, so I can't.

While the results with last Wine and Wine installed Perseus is the same, I got an error that can be of interest of Wine developer. I attach a shot that I got while installing.
