Bug ID: 39879 Summary: Microsoft Powerpoint 2013 fails to open because of lacking memory Product: Wine Version: 1.6.2 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: n296869@rtrtr.com Distribution: ---
Powerpoint crashes when showing startup window telling me there's is not enough memory (ram) or system resources to start powerpoint. Already edited VideoMemorySize in Direct3D. i7-4700MQ and 16gb ram, 2gb Vram should not be the problem. Would love to give you a crash report but I cannot find out how to open powerpoint via the console... Word and Excel 2013 start well and seem to work nicely...

--- Comment #6 from nekto eugene.chemeritskiy@gmail.com --- I have the same problem with MS Office 2013. Both Word and Excel work as expected. But when I start PowerPoint, it shows a popup: "There's not enough memory or system resources to start PowerPoint."
The message is the same in both wine 1.8-rc3 and wine 1.9-staging.
I attach some debug logs for 1.9: - 'before_error.log' contains wine logs collected from the moment PowerPoint started till the moment it showed a message box with the error; - 'after_error.log' contains logs collected after the message box showed up, till the moment PowerPoint terminated.
Please note, before PowerPoint shows the error message, it also shows a popup, which asks me to choose the launch mode (safe or usual), because of a crash in a previous launch. I have tried both options. It does not seem to change anything in regard to the error.

--- Comment #10 from bystrzak14@gmail.com --- I have exact the same problem with PowerPoint 2013 32bit. Both Word and Excel work fine. After running Power Point, first configuration starts. After that application crashes. Next start of application results in question whether run it in safe mode. I attached 3 logs from those startups.

--- Comment #11 from Nikolay Sivov bunglehead@gmail.com --- Make sure to set riched20 to native, builtin (don't install native version manually) for any Office application you run and try again.
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=39879
--- Comment #12 from bystrzak14@gmail.com --- That worked for me! Thank you very much!
While searching for how to change this I found some info about but regarding Office 2007. Here are listed versions of Power Point, but not older than 2010, and so far, for Office 2013, I found info about the installer only. That's why I didn't know that that library should be changed. https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=13
Thanks a lot again!

--- Comment #13 from Nikolay Sivov bunglehead@gmail.com --- Ok, so duplicate of 14980 then? Note that you should set riched20 to native, builtin for all Office applications, even if there's no much of visual difference at a first sight.
