Summary: uTorrent 1.7.7 exited (or minimized) to tray err's Product: Wine Version: 0.9.60 Platform: Other OS/Version: other Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: enhancement Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: goonstk@yahoo.com
Once I open up uTorrent, I get a window asking to install. I deselect all the checkboxes and hit OK. Another window comes up on Speed or whatever. I just hit OK and continue. Now since uTorrent, for me, always minimizes to the tray, I tried to see if it displayed any errors if I tried exiting out.
It displayed these errors once I killed uTorrent and it was minimized to the Ubuntu tray.

--- Comment #1 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2008-04-29 20:22:02 --- Do these errors actually prevent some functionality of the program?

--- Comment #2 from Mikolaj Zalewski mikolaj.zalewski@gmail.com 2008-07-13 14:45:16 --- That's the firewall manager (CSLID_NetFwMgr) which is not implemented. But I don't know if this makes any problems for the program - errs on the output are not a bug. It seems to work fine without it (it needs to, if they want it to work on Win2000 or pre-SP2 WinXP).

--- Comment #3 from Anastasius Focht focht@gmx.net 2008-07-13 15:32:57 --- Hello,
that message can be safely ignored. Many internet apps use Windows Firewall NetFwMgr to programmatically add themselves to list of authorized apps and register incoming ports.
If the incoming port(s) are blocked you won't get much peers/speed. To get maximum speed out of uTorrent you need to properly configure port forwarding in your router and make sure your local linux host's firewall doesn't block the incoming port(s).
The router's port forwarding can be configured automagically by uTorrent using uPnP but there are many routers which are broken, so manual configuration is recommended way. The local firewall configuration is something you need to take care of by yourself (require superuser/root privileges).

--- Comment #4 from Anastasius Focht focht@gmx.net 2008-07-13 16:04:34 --- Hello again,
just to prevent misunderstanding:
--- quote --- that message can be safely ignored. --- quote ---
Just means that the functionality of downloading/uploading from/to peers is not harmed. Though as I previously said: you won't get maximum speed due to blocking of incoming port. I think it's not in the scope of wine to map Windows NetFwMgr functionality to Linux/BSD firewalls (iptables, ipfw) also considering the fact that such operations require root privileges.
A feasible approach could be to provide stubs for the interface methods and spit out messages to the console hinting the user to configure the local firewall accordingly (app wants to open incoming port xxx and the like).

--- Comment #5 from Ronak goonstk@yahoo.com 2008-11-20 15:14:04 --- Okay, thanks for the information Anastasius. I hope Wine has or will implement stubs and print out the message you were speaking of.
or
wine could try to put it into iptables with a gksudo password prompt. That would make it even easier. :)
