Summary: Office 97 installer fails with "unable to open...Off97Pro.stf' Product: Wine Version: CVS/GIT Platform: Other OS/Version: other Status: NEW Keywords: Installer Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: dank@kegel.com
It worked several days ago, but today on a fresh hardy update and a fresh wine from git or 0.9.59 from hardy apt-get install, it fails quickly with
Setup is unable to open the data file 'C:~MSSETUP.T~msstfof.t\Off97Pro.stf'; run Setup again from where you originally ran it."
This happens even though I can read the file Off96Pro.stf on the cdrom. Oddly, adding +file or running under strace gets past that -- but as soon as you enter your license key, it pops up again.
Copying that file manually right before entering the license key gets a bit further, but not too much.
Other apps (PS 7, PS CS2) install fine.

--- Comment #2 from Dan Kegel dank@kegel.com 2008-04-11 13:53:19 --- I don't know that it's a regression. The app seems fine on current git on my Compaq Presario running Gutsy. It's only my lenovo x60 running Hardy Beta that's screwy.
Going back to prepackaged wine-0.9.58 (for gutsy, since there are no hardy builds of it) didn't help.
I tried a clean build with an older compiler (i.e. sudo aptitude install gcc-4.1; CC=gcc-4.1 ./configure ; make clean; make depend ; make) but it didn't help either.
In all cases, wineprefixcreate crashes on this machine.
Since both my wine and the prepackaged Hardy wine break for me on this machine, either something's wrong with Hardy, or something's wrong with my machine. Time to put Gutsy back on the machine. I doubt it's Wine's fault per se.
