Crash #1 under Wine 1.7.0

I'm using System Shock 2 NewDark 2.42 and the game will constantly, and without
warning, crash.

I've used GOGs version, my own boxed version patched to v2.42, I've used a
variety of Wine versions, PlayOnLinux and normal Wine and changed many many
settings in the game around, on and off but this issue constantly persists to
make the game unplayable.

Intel i7 computer, Ubuntu 13.04, GeForce GTX 680
Asus Xonar D2 sound card

setup: core duo 6400 cpu 2.13GHz, 1GB Ram, 128MB geforce7300LE (using latest
nvidia driver), Lubuntu 13.04, wine 1.6, steam version of System Shock2.

issue: random crashes - can take up to half a hour for the game to crash with
no apparent reason.
