Bug ID: 40699 Summary: Star Trek Online Crashes after short while of game playon Ubuntu 16.04 Product: Wine Version: 1.9.11 Hardware: x86 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: trprecht@gmail.com Distribution: ---
Created attachment 54580 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=54580 backtrace.txt saved after latest crash.
I've tried several versions of WINE 1.7.40, 1.9.10 & 1.9.11 on Ubuntu 16.04 and the game crashes at random time intervals during game play (between 5-60 minutes), but each time the message is about "GameClient.exe has encountered a serious problem" and then closed. You can save log file or backtrace file but if you click the link about that version of the client it locks that up too.
This issue wasnt as prevalent on 14.04.3 while under WINE 1.7.40, but it did happen at least once an hour-and-a-half then.

--- Comment #4 from ImperatorS79 fevrier.simon@gmail.com --- So it seems that Star Trek Online has a new light system based on directx11. The program should detect if the graphic card support directx11 and switch back to directx9 if needed (that's what developers said...).
So I tested the program, which worked perfectly before, with wine 1.9.22 windows7. Three times : normal, dx11/dx10 native, dx11/dx10 disabled ("desactivated" in the logs... I'm sorry for my English level ...)

Have you tried running this command:
winetricks d3dcompiler_43
?
That would help with those HLSL shader parsing errors you have in one of your terminal output logs :)
