Bug ID: 40082 Summary: Adobe Audition 1.5 Multi-Channel Encoder doesn't sound into Ubuntu 15.10 Product: Wine Version: 1.9.2 Hardware: x86 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: jotape1960@yahoo.com Distribution: ---
Created attachment 53564 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=53564 The Adobe Audition 1.5 Multi-Channel Encoder. The shown channels don't sound.
Adobe Audition 1.5 was (and still is) a very, very good audio recording, edition and post-production software.
It runs so fine under WineHQ 1.9.2, into Ubuntu 15.10.
BUT... When we use the Multi-Channel Encoder tool (the tool which lets us to send the individual tracks to an specific output audio channel), we can not to hear the surround components (Center, Left Surround, Right Surround and Low Frecuency Channels).
However, the final result audio file will have all the components (stereo and surround) and all of them will be heard on any multi-channel audio player (like GnomePlayer).
The problem is ONLY with the real direct sound which is supposed audible into the multi-channel mixdown.
Maybe a surround audio issue with Wine? ??? I don't know.

--- Comment #1 from Andrew Eikum aeikum@codeweavers.com --- Hi, thanks for reporting the issue.
Are your physical speakers surround 5.1, or are you expecting it to down-mix to stereo sound?
Wine's directsound does not currently support downmixing from 5.1 to stereo. In addition, directsound may not open your audio device in 5.1 even if it is available. I do have some patches to fix both of these issues that I plan to send soon.
See also bug 26965.

--- Comment #2 from jotape1960 jotape1960@yahoo.com --- Yes, I use a multichannel Pioneer device (5.1), connected directly to the analog outputs of the desktop PC.
With Windows XP, and 7, the surround audio worked so fine!!!
Now, with Ubuntu Studio 15.10, WineHQ 1.9.3 doesn't work with surround audio (if we set the "winecfg" to use Pulse Audio with surround audio, the Windows audio software is frozen, doesn't work, we have to re-set "winecfg" to stereo audio to use Windows audio software).
BUT... It isn't a Linux issue, because all the Linux audio software run with surround audio so fine (even the command line "speakers-test" app)!!!
In other words, this isn't a hardware or OS issue. This is a WineHQ issue.
Well, I hope some day it will be fixed.
That's all, folks!!!
