My roommate despises VLC, and is in love with this media player. Step 1 in his dogfood transition to Ubuntu would be getting this media player to work in Wine.

Problem 2: on launch, throws exception and refuses to launch. Exception EExternalException in module ntdll.dll at 0002B168. External exception C0000025.

No need for +relay thingy i guess, this seems to be the problem: err:ole:CoGetClassObject class {fcc152b7-f372-11d0-8e00-00c04fd7c08b} not registered err:ole:create_server class {fcc152b7-f372-11d0-8e00-00c04fd7c08b} not registered

That belongs to qdvd.dll whatever that may be. I copied it from my windowspartitiion into wine's system32, registered it, and the bug is gone. Maybe a stub implementation of this dll might be enough to get rid of the error(???)

(then runs into quartz bug i think)i

Can you please test this again as COM registration is now implemented in qdvd by https://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/commitdiff/ f7164ccfd17da8d978dbabff6eff84ce6caf1c8d

I tested this and it needs a stub IDvdGraphBuilder, I have a patch for this that I will send soon.
