--- Comment #8 from Jean-Louis Bourdon jean-louis.bourdon@laposte.net 2009-02-02 08:51:15 --- still it makes Sketchup very difficult to use. you are about to select something, the graphics become garbage until you move away from what you were trying to select it, and so on...

--- Comment #9 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2009-08-05 10:11:46 --- Still need the regression test...is this still an issue in current (1.1.26 or newer) wine?

--- Comment #11 from Anton olaf_nz@hotmail.com 2010-07-26 03:52:22 --- I am not sure if this is the same bug but I can describe when it happens for me: Everything seems absolutely fine until I enable shadows (or go to a predefined scene that has shadows enabled). After that, even if I disable shadows, every time I zoom in until a part of the model goes past the display boundaries (requires clipping) then things go haywire.
The best way I can describe it is that the co-ordinates of the other end of the clipped object move around to incorrect places (which change as you zoom in or out). See attachment "Sketchup display issue once shadows enabled."
Things come right as soon as the entire model is able to be shown within the display boundaries (which limits the usefulness substantially). It's certainly NOT a "trivial".
This has been affecting me for a while. Just upgraded to Wine 1.2 with no improvement.
Running 2.6.32-23-generic Ubuntu with an on-board ATI Radeon 2100. Compiz is on, but it makes no difference.
Sketchup 7.1.6860 Free version.

--- Comment #12 from Jeff Zaroyko jeffz@jeffz.name 2010-07-26 03:56:23 --- If this really is a regression between 1.1.12 and 1.1.13 someone will need to post the result of the regression test for this to proceed. http://wiki.winehq.org/RegressionTesting

--- Comment #13 from Anton olaf_nz@hotmail.com 2010-07-29 02:15:16 --- I have no idea if or when it was a regression. My report just states that it is happening for me now (with these video drivers, hardware, etc).
Let me know if you'd like me to diagnose it further. It's totally reproducible.

Testing an older version of wine to see if it is a regression, and if so, running the regression test would be very helpful in diagnosing this bug.

Ok. I'm not a huge Linux expert but I'm quite willing to do this if it's not too disruptive to the system. Is it easy enough to install an older copy without disturbing my package manager?
What version am I aiming for? 1.1.12?

You could build a copy using git, pretty easily: $ git checkout -f wine-1.1.12 $ ./configure && make depend && make then run it from the source directory (no need to install) /path/to/wine/source/wine sketchup.exe
if it works there, do the regression test.
Though these sort of questions belong on the user forum, not bugzilla. Bugzilla is for bugs, not general help.

I'm not arguing that, but it needs to be accessible for non-expert users to help in the development effort. The installation you described seems simple enough, but it's not always clear (for a non-tech user) what to do.
ANYWAY. I have just upgraded to an Nvidia GTS250 and the problem has completely disappeared for me. All other system settings are identical except for running off the proprietary Nvidia drivers rather than the ATI Radeon drivers.
