--- Comment #2 from netz@lytenyn.de 2011-11-19 16:49:18 CST --- I experience a similar problem, but the 'puppeteer lines' are black, not white. This either happens all the time in the game, or not at all. If I restart the game, it sometimes changes. Using the nvidia binary blob. Terminal output attached, I will provide additional things if you need more.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\Direct3D] "OffscreenRenderingMode"="backbuffer"

--- Comment #10 from Rixa rixa@cs.tut.fi 2013-09-01 16:30:09 CDT --- I have gotten this many times after the game has crashed and I have started it again. Merely restarting the game has not helped once to get rid of it, but restarting the computer seems to work, as does starting some OpenGL game and exiting it cleanly.
Perhaps something isn't getting properly initialized?

--- Comment #11 from Fever sebastian.fieber@web.de --- I can confirm this for 1.7.13 in Ubuntu 13.10. I'm using Bumblebee with a Nvidia gtx 740m. I don't get the problem with the Intel. Things like restarting the game, or starting an OpenGL game in the same prefix won't solve the issue, not even temporary for me.

--- Comment #12 from Lauern suruntuoja@gmail.com --- Arch, nvidia gtx 750 ti / 343.22, Xorg 1.16.2, wine 1.7.30. Exactly the same problem, lines are different shades of brown though. orm=backbuffer makes the whole game go black with they gui on top of it. Works with fbo.

Attachment 50908 [details] from bug 34052 should help here too.
The patch does not fix the problem for me.
Can someone else test this too who encounters this bug? Would be cool if it did and I just made a mistake.

I face the same issue with this setup
- Arch linux
- Wine 1.7.38
- GeForce GT 740M

Does this also occur with the above mentioned patch? I've got the exactly same set up and issue. The patch did not work for me but to be sure someone else should test the patch.

I tried something else and it worked, i was using bumblebee and it seems to be the reason.
I uninstalled it and used only nvidia and the game runs ok now.

--- Comment #18 from Marc m.even@neuf.fr --- Hello !
Bug confirmed on Wine 1.7.45 and Nvidia proprietary driver 352.21.
But i found one solution, it's strange...
Log out/log in your session, open nvidia settings, close nvidia settings. Launch Witcher, it's perfect. But if you stop witcher and relaunch, line appear. Repeat manipulation then.
Sorry for my english.
