dotnetfx setup log

First, setup was unable to load msvcr80.dll from winsxs subdirs. I copied it to
system32. Now dll loads, but setup is still unsuccessful. Log is attached.

Are you not trying to install it through the installshield of another software?
Which one?
This error looks like a dupe of mine (10384) but usually it's working, it looks
some kind of problem of the installshield not being able to complete after
ending the installation of the .NET but usually the .NET is working though.

I tried to install it by downloading and running dotnetfx.exe from Microsoft. I
also tried to install it using MSDN installer (MSDN is an actual reason why I
want to install Net Framework 2.0).

Here I found once a discussion about the problem (if you look at the log file
in the temp directory, you will see that the error exactly occurred at the same
point of the discussion).

Since I did not get anyone else to get this error, this had not been fixed for
ages.

Looks like a msi issue.

Hello,

the recommended way is with 'sh winetricks dotnet20'.

So how did you install .NET 2.0 Framework?
Outline exact steps.
Did you do this on 'clean' WINEPREFIX? Windows version?

A 'manual' installation besides winetricks requires certain knowledge (all
showstopper bugs are known) and is *not* recommended for the casual user.
Any missing step makes this bug report automagically a duplicate.
