Bug ID: 45164 Summary: Suggestion: directory ownership & mapping Product: Wine Version: 3.0 Hardware: x86 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: winelib Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: la_iscla@mac.com Distribution: ---
In winecfg, the directories for mapping drives as well as the "Folders" (My Pictures, etc.) are static paths. This makes multi-user mode impractical, i.e. imagine you want to run Ms Office, then each user on a host would have to install its own wine and install Ms Office inside. Why not support relative paths/tilde-based paths ? Also, while understandable, the restriction to own the wine directory may need to be reviewed. You might want to dissociate the user registry from that directory and enable some dissociation.
