Summary: EverQuest 1 no longer runs Product: Wine Version: 0.9.45. Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: wine-directx-d3d AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: slicersv@gmail.com
Created an attachment (id=8119) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=8119) console output of older EQ 1 client used by SoD w/ wine 0.9.45
When I upgraded to wine 0.9.45 the older version of the EverQuest client used by Shards of Dalaya emulated server no longer runs. I quit Live a long time ago, so I cannot confirm if this problem occurs with the newer clients as well. My theory is that the offending thing is:
fixme:d3d_surface:IWineD3DSurfaceImpl_UnlockRect >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> GL_INVALID_OPERATION (0x502) from glUnmapBufferARB @ surface.c / 1291 wine: Unhandled page fault on write access to 0x00000000 at address 0x7cc64eb6 (thread 000c), starting debugger...
view the attachment for the rest of the console output.

--- Comment #3 from Roderick Colenbrander thunderbird2k@gmx.net 2007-09-21 05:24:24 --- Try to upgrade to the latest GIT version. I have fixed a couple of PBO bugs in there and likely your problem too.

--- Comment #4 from Drew Patridge slicersv@gmail.com 2007-09-21 08:58:43 --- err:ntdll:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection section 0x7e3d5540 "x11drv_main.c: X11DRV_CritSection" wait timed out in thread 000d, blocked by 000c, retrying (60 sec)
still not working, this is the same output i was getting after i'd done a few bisects during regression testing, and the game locks up.

--- Comment #5 from Roderick Colenbrander thunderbird2k@gmx.net 2007-09-26 02:50:45 --- Try to update to the latest GIT version. There were some changes in other areas of Wine which could have resulted in this problem.

--- Comment #6 from Drew Patridge slicersv@gmail.com 2007-09-29 10:39:42 --- i am still having problems with 0.9.46 same exact behavior as with .45 and all the git commits between.

--- Comment #7 from Charity AngeliqeR@gmail.com 2007-10-28 16:39:08 --- Live is still fine with wine 0.9.47 with or without patching.

--- Comment #8 from Drew Patridge slicersv@gmail.com 2007-11-13 19:52:43 --- still not working for me with .49. i no longer have my cd's, and long ago cancelled my live account, so i can't repatch to live to see if i can fix it that way, so i'm waiting until i can manage to get some older cd's... it could be that somehow my executables or libraries are messed up and older versions of wine aren't sensitive to it, nor is windows, but newer versions of wine are, i suppose.

--- Comment #9 from Andrew Crow Dryvin@gmail.com 2007-11-26 15:58:35 --- Having the same issue trying to run Shards of Dalaya using Wine 0.9.49. Will run my own regression test and post it later this week to see if we can get to the bottom of this issue.

--- Comment #10 from Drew Patridge slicersv@gmail.com 2007-12-12 04:13:24 --- it's inexplicably working again in .50 for me.
not only is it working again, it's performance is much smoother and the wine interpreter doesn't spit out quite so many warnings in the terminal i run it on.
