Created an attachment (id=25189) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=25189) terminal output
Attempting to start this game crashes the system. Steps to reproduce:
1. (with the game cd mounted on /media/HYPE) Run wine /media/HYPE/setup.exe 2. Click Play 3. Whole system hangs (X appears to freeze completely), computer doesn't respond to ctrl+alt+backspace, only way out is to reboot using the magic sysrq keys.
I've attached the terminal output.
Any help would be appreciated.

--- Comment #1 from Juan Lang juan_lang@yahoo.com 2009-12-13 10:11:45 --- (From update of attachment 25189) Video card/driver version? Hanging your system is not something Wine can do by itself, it's almost certainly a driver bug.

--- Comment #2 from cvoeten@gmail.com 2009-12-13 10:31:48 --- Video card is Intel 865g, driver version is 2.9.1-1.fc12.
I don't think it's a driver issue. This game is ancient (like 1998) so its video card reqs are very low, and it runs more than fine on Windows XP. And I've been able to run other Windows 3D games with higher quality without any problems on Wine.

I don't think it's a driver issue.
It's either that or your kernel. Wine can't do that itself. It may be that Wine is triggering the bug, but Wine can't hang your machine. Given the choice of driver or kernel, I know where my money would be.

--- Comment #6 from cvoeten@gmail.com 2009-12-14 03:45:19 --- OK, thanks.
So does that make this bug invalid and should it therefore be closed as resolved?

Yes, you could try looking for newer drivers or get a basic nvidia card and things may improve.
