All applications for the US Robotics message modems are no longer supported and
definitely do not work on the "new" Ubuntu kernels.  Which is a real shame as
These modems are the only ones that can work even when the computer is off.

So I am stuck with the Windows phone tools CD and specifically BVRP which is
excellent - if you have Windows.

Needless to say, WINE won't look at it.

With Setup.exe, it instantly stops with:
"InstallShield Engine (iKernel.exe) could not be launched. (0x800288bd)"

Now what?

WINE is version 1.1.43

There is no attachment, simply because nothing is reported - the log file is
absolutely empty

Upgrade Wine. wine-1.1.43 known to break most installshield installers.

Upgraded to WINE 1.44 
Had no effect on the problem whatsoever.

This is your friendly reminder that there has been no bug activity for 650
days. Is this still an issue in current (1.4 or newer) wine?

Since there was nobody interested, and this was extremely important for my
business, I wiped Linux as support was non existant.
All my computers are now Windows 7.
You have to be better at this before anyone will take you seriously.

Abandoned.

FWIW, it was unlikely to work, likely bundled drivers/etc. that don't work on
wine.

If you really what to have something _now_ and your entire business depends on
it then you should really be contacting Codewavers.

And as far as Wine goes - you can always get a refund. It's an open source
project, you know.
