Summary: EVE Online: Only shows a black screen Product: Wine Version: 1.1.3 Platform: PC-x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: major Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: chaosxc@gmail.com
I recently upgraded to 1.1.3 with the hope that maybe EVE would work a little bit better. I was able to get premium graphics content but it would not render ship and station models. When I disabled the premium content and EVE restarted, all I got was a black screen. Downgrading to 1.1.1 did not fix it, nor did reinstalling EVE.

--- Comment #4 from JD chaosxc@gmail.com 2008-09-07 14:07:28 --- I was able to get EVE past the black screen by giving it the command "/end /LUA:off". I dont know if it is an effect of the 1.1 patch, but now the game lags or catches often. Leaving it alone for a minute will let it get going again. the game is still unplayable though because of that.

I did clear the cache and settings in multiple attempts to fix this.

I have similiar problem also... After the starting splashscreen the game crashes right away.
Seems that it tries to run the client in small window at upper left corner of wine explorer. I could make it run in the safe mode of eve client but still it had this tiny screen box on that corner.
I have Wine 1.1.10 and latest client from eve.
Gfx card is 8400MS and having the the latest 177 driver.

Here is the screen shot for the previous comment I made about being able to run eve on safe mode but with in unplayable tiny box on wine explorer.

Try running it with managed mode off and window decoration off.

WINE 1.1.24 has brought some fixes to solve problems with various ATI and NVidia cards. I suppose this can be closed?
