--- Comment #1 from Oliver ogheard@googlemail.com 2010-06-24 00:57:25 --- Updated this bug. It appears to affect all windows, not just the Settings window as previously stated.

--- Comment #2 from Oliver ogheard@googlemail.com 2010-06-24 01:02:41 --- After killing Steam and starting it again I'm unable to reliably reproduce. The bug has appeared twice before, I'll do some more experimenting and see if I can figure out what steps are required to reproduce it.
A recent review on the appdb shows another user experiencing this bug: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=19444&i...

--- Comment #3 from Oliver ogheard@googlemail.com 2010-06-24 01:06:51 --- Okay... already managed to reliably reproduce, follow these steps:
- Open Steam main window - Click "View" -> "Settings" - Change any value - Notice window focus frenzy between main steam window and settings window (KDE) - Click Settings window to regain focus - Click "OK" or "Cancel", window closes and reopens with no visible changes - Change value back to the previous value - Close window successfully

--- Comment #7 from Brandon Howard FinalCrisisSX@Hotmail.com 2010-07-02 22:20:11 --- This is not fixed. As reported, it affects all windows and not just settings. I can't find a way to consistently reproduce it (and the method suggested above doesn't do it most of the time), but it is still happening.

--- Comment #8 from Brandon Howard FinalCrisisSX@Hotmail.com 2010-07-02 22:21:45 --- Apologies, I thought I added my info to my previous post, but obviously not. I'm on Arch Linux 64 Bit up to date as of this morning, running wine 1.2 rc6.

--- Comment #9 from Brandon Howard FinalCrisisSX@Hotmail.com 2010-07-02 22:41:43 --- Apologies for a third message, I wish there was edit, but..
I seem to have found a way to reliably reproduce this in rc6 now actually. I'm running gnome (whatever the current ver in Arch is.. 2.30.2?), but it would probably occur on any other wm/de.
1) Start with all windows closed.
2) Open a web browser. I tested this with firefox and chromium, presumably it would occur on any other or similarly with any other apps, but these reliably do it.
3) Minimize the browser to the task bar.
4) Right click the *system tray icon* for steam, and open "Library" and then right click it again and open "Friends", in that order. I don't know why, but it apparently doesn't happen if I do it the other way around. Do not click on or do anything further with these windows.
5) Click the task bar entry for the web browser to maximize it again, then minimize it after a few seconds.
6) Try to click the close button on the steam Friends window without doing anything else. It will not work. It will act like it's going to close, then pop back up.

--- Comment #10 from Brandon Howard FinalCrisisSX@Hotmail.com 2010-07-02 22:57:49 --- My apologies one last time. It seems most of those things weren't even necessary to reproduce this.
Simply..
1) Right click the system tray icon for steam, and click "Library". 2) Right click the system tray icon for steam again, and click "Friends". 3) Try to click the close button on the steam Friends window. It will not work. It will act like it's going to close (start fading out), then pop back up.
Note: The order seems semi-important. I don't know why, but it apparently doesn't work AS consistently switching 1 & 2.

--- Comment #13 from Oliver ogheard@googlemail.com 2010-07-04 08:55:35 --- Hello Brandon.
Are you sure you're running version 1.2r6? I'm unable to reproduce the bug in this version.
I do however still get the focus frenzy going on between the Steam settings window and the main Steam window when I change any settings, the window does however close successfully.

--- Comment #14 from Brandon Howard FinalCrisisSX@Hotmail.com 2010-07-04 12:34:11 --- Oliver:
100% sure. The first time I posted, I had realized it was only rc5 and I had a glimmer of hope for just a second until rc6 failed too ;(. Also, did you open a bug regarding the focus issue?

--- Comment #15 from Brandon Howard FinalCrisisSX@Hotmail.com 2010-07-04 12:45:01 --- Just out of curiosity, I also tried bin32-wine-suse from the Arch user repo. It's currently 1.1.49 (downloads the source 1.2rc6 -- suse's renumbering scheme I suppose) in addition to my own manually compiled 1.2rc6. Same issue.
