Der Bringer is a Windows check program with the possibility to setup any game
and and get best moves. I don't know any Linux programs with similar
possibilities.

It used to work fine on previous wine versions (up to 1.3.15 as far as I know),
but 1.3.23 gives black squares if you put a piece on it. I removed 1.3.23 and
replaced it with a wine 1.2 version and it worked fine again. Putting back
1.3.23 gives the black squares as before.

Attachment 35878 in bug 27990 allows the chess pieces to be drawn correctly, so
this is a duplicate.

How do I apply the patch? If that is done automatically then the solution
doesn't work for "Der Bringer". I reinstalled wine 1.3.26 and the problem still
exists.

The patch is in git, it will be in 1.3.27 (out later today).
